Russian Bride Blog: Day 4: Mexican Vendors versus Russian Brides!!!

Chichen Itza and Russian Brides....two awesome events in one day!! We scheduled a tour to Chichen Itza. For those that are not familiar, Chichen Itza is the foremost symbol of Mayan culture. There are many mysteries surrounding the demise of Mayan culture but there is no question that Chichen Itza was one of the largest Mayan cities. It is about a three hour drive from the Fairmont Mayakoba (210 km).

The site is impressive to say the least. There are many remarkably preserved and restored buildings that provide a glimpse into ancient Mayan life. The seminal building is Temple of Kukulkan. It is also referred to as El Castillo (The castle). This is the pyramid shaped structure that is frequently associated with Mayan ruins. There are two other areas of ancient Mayan ruins that are not far from Cancun. Coba and Tulum are actually closer to Cancun and they may be all toured in one day (with some creative driving and fast walking)!

It is also astounding the number of vendors that assault you for your money!! It was interesting that there were many Russian tour groups at Chichen Itza yesterday. This enabled a feeling of being home for the Russian Brides.

This scenario created an interesting and amusing sideshow! The battle of the Irresistible Force (Mexican Vendors) versus Russian Brides (born negotiators). Vegas money would have been on the vendors...hands down. You could have gotten 5 - 2 or better odds in favor of the vendors. Years of experience at their trade and their keen ability to recognize and exploit a "mark" would clearly give them the upper hand!! Alas NO!!! Vegas odds makers do not know Russian brides!!

Ready for the results?? You can guess the outcome!! At my last count, Russian brides were up 8-1!!! There was only one instance in which I thought the vendor may have gotten the higher price!!

All in all it was a great day. We believe that events such as this during our Russian Brides in Paradise Program will be continued as everyone seemed to have a good time!
